I.General Information

  As one of the first universities to resume management education after China's reform and opening up, Beijing Institute of Technology set up the Department of Management Engineering in 1980. In order to meet the needs of China's socio-economic and higher education development, in 1992, the Department of Management Engineering was renamed the School of Management, and in 1998, renamed to the School of Management and Economics.

  At present, the School has eight departments: the Department of Management Science and Logistics, Department of Management Engineering, Department of Applied Economics, Department of International Trade and Finance, Department of Accounting, Department of Organization and Human Resource Management, Department of Technical Economics and Strategic Management, and Department of Marketing.

 

II.Disciplines & Programms

  The School currently offers five undergraduate majors: information management and information systems, business administration, marketing, accounting, and international economics and trade.

  The School has three level I discipline doctoral stations in management science and engineering, business administration and applied economics, two interdisciplinary doctoral programs in energy and climate economics, and national economic mobilization, as well as two post doctoral mobile stations in management science and engineering and in business administration. The management science and engineering is listed the key discipline of Beijing City and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The Business Administration (Business Management) is listed the key discipline of Beijing City. The National Economic Mobilization is listed the featured national defense discipline of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The School has established three level I discipline master’s stations of management science and engineering, business management, and applied economics, offering five master’s degree programs (MBA, EMBA, master of engineering (project management track), master of Engineering Management, master of accounting, (MPAcc)).

  In 2011, our MBA program received the international AMBA accreditation, and was ranked the seventh "China's most influential MBA" by the "World Manager" magazine. In 2014, the MBA program passed the AMBA re certification.

  In 2015, the School received the EQUIS accreditation, one of the seven in the mainland China certified both by EQUIS and AMBA.

 

III. Faculty

  The School currently has 129 full-time teachers (including 3 foreign teachers), 41 professors and researchers, 45 doctoral tutors, 57associate professors, among which 112 teachers have doctorate degrees. In addition, the School also invited a number of government leaders, Chinese Academy of Engineering academicians, renowned management economics experts, and entrepreneurs to join the faculty on a consulting or part-time basis.
 

IV. Research

  Over the past five years, our teachers actively undertook scientific research projects with research funding accumulated more than 100 million yuan. There are over 400 research projects completed or ongoing:

• National Natural Science Foundation Outstanding Youth Fund Projects: 3;
• Key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation: 3;
• Major international cooperation projects of the National Natural Science Foundation: 2;
• National Natural Science Foundation general projects: 42;
• Key Project of National Social Science Fundation: 1;
• National Social Science Fundation projects: 5;
• National 973 Projects: 2;
• Major national science and technology special projects: 3;
• Provincial and ministerial projects, such as the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Commission of Science and Technology for National Defense, the Ministry of Commerce and the Beijing Municipal Government: more than 100.

  The completed projects have received more than 30 national, provincial and ministerial level teaching and research awards. In recent years, our teachers and students have published nearly 2000 papers in domestic and international academic journals, including over 200 in SSCI / SCI.

 

V. Educatioin

  At present, the School has a total of more than 3,800 students, including over 1,000 undergraduates, 2,400 graduate students, 300 doctoral students, and 80 international students.
